تلاش ما بر این است که مسائل متعدد روبروی انسان و جهان ایرانی معاصر را به تصویر کشیم؛ دنیای پیچیده فرایندهای خُرد و کلانی که از گذشته می‌آیند، در اکنون خیمه می‌زنند و هر آن رهسپار فردایند. دیلمان قصد دارد رو در روی مخاطب خود بنشیند و پرده‌های پندار را کنار بزند و به قول حافظ، غبار ره بنشاند تا نظر کردن ممکن گردد. پرسش‌های خوانندگان را بر دیده بنهد، با آنها وارد گفت‌و‌گویی پیگیر گردد و سرانجام پلی میان اندیشه‌گران شود تا بلکه از این رهگذر بتواند به ارتقای فرهنگی جامعه اندکی مدد رساند. ایران امروز ما نیاز دارد تا بیشتر بخواند، از خود بشنود، سرمایه‌های فرهنگی‌اش را بشناسد و خویشتن را نیز چون دیگران در آینه و عیاری انتقادی ببیند. از دید ما تفکر انتقادی، سرآغاز اين رهايی است.

ایران امروز ما نیاز دارد تا بیشتر بخواند، از خود بشنود، سرمایه‌های فرهنگی‌اش را بشناسد و خویشتن را نیز چون دیگران در آینه و عیاری انتقادی ببیند. از دید ما تفکر انتقادی، سرآغاز اين رهايی است.

Critical Thinking Is the Beginning of Liberation

Deylaman is a magazine published across the geographical and cultural landscape of Iran. Its vision is to challenge stereotypical and conventional narratives of history, society, culture, art, and literature in order to arrive at new ways of seeing and understanding.

Our aim is to portray the many questions and challenges facing human beings and the contemporary Iranian world: the complex interplay of micro- and macro-level processes that emerge from the past, take shape in the present, and are constantly moving toward the future.

Deylaman seeks to sit face-to-face with its readers, to draw aside the veils of illusion and, in the words of the great Persian poet Hafez, to let the dust of the road settle so that true seeing may become possible. We take our readers’ questions seriously, engage with them in an ongoing dialogue, and ultimately seek to build bridges among thinkers—hoping, in this way, to contribute, even if modestly, to the cultural development of society.

In our view, Iran today needs to read more, to hear more from within itself, to recognize and understand its cultural resources, and to look at itself—as it looks at others—in the mirror of critical reflection. We believe that critical thinking is the beginning of this liberation.
